HIP-HUGGING STREET ROCKING JEANS!!
Celebrity New Denim Trends
The Trend: Jeggings
I don’t know any one that doesn’t love the new jeggings. They are comfy, can be dressed down or up by adding heels. I m not surprised Beyonce got her hands on them, with a figure like that they are ideal to show off her great assets. Jeggings are so tight they almost look painted on. With the large amount of stretch in the material, they are still very comfy so much in fact that they have managed to replace my beloved skinny jeans and I swore I would never take them off.
The trend: Acid Wash
Acid wash jeans are the biggest trend in denim for 2009, Fergie from the Black eyed peas is adding a smart blazer to her rocker look and some sexy high heels. Get your must have jeans from My1stWish at £ 19.99
The trend: Ripped jeans
Just when you thought they would never return…ripped jeans are back. Celebrities have been seen rocking it, Halle Berry to Kim Kardashian have all been spotted in the latest trend. I can see why, ripped jeans are sexy and the ultimate Rock star look. Nicole Riche wears grey ripped denim jeans and adds a scarf and tassel bag to her outfit on a casual day out. My1stWish has a similar pair for only £19.99.
The Trend: Biker jeans
I have been in love with this trend ever since I saw Rihanna stepping out in these Pratt skinny jeans. She completely rocked this outfit, by adding fur and gloves to help achieve that bad ass rock and roll inspired look. These jeans come with a designer price tag; luckily My1stWish has a very similar pair available for only £19.99
So, yes – of course I love Sex in the City. It’s a moot point really, what girl doesn’t? Not only is SJP’s stylist my hero, but the series defined my love-life pre-Jake, and probably like every girl, I love to draw parallels between myself and Carrie; my friends and her friends; my boyfriend and her Big.
Well, the new movie is all very exciting. I’m mostly excited about the clothes, obviously – plot, etc, comes a close second! I have been lucky enough to view a few previews of Carries wardrobe! While of course this will be a continuing theme for any future previews, and I will review the movie in terms of fashion, for now I would love to know your opinion? What do you think of what looks set to be Carries new looks 2010!
Love the floral and I have some similar ankle boots which I got from My 1st Wish.
Now, I am convinced that this must be a flash-back scene. Surely Carrie isn’t going to bring the 80’s back again?!
This – we L.O.V.E – love! If fashion school has taught me one thing it is that simple always works! Pretty gold heels, delectable gold clutch and a cute white smock-dress to die for! More of this – yes please!
And last but not least – this is totally mine, Lauren and Stacy’s favourite picture of the lot. The purple and green look stunning and this is the classy casual Carrie we know and love. Hopefully there will be more from where that came from soon folks!

Is the Ugg Boot still cool?
I have a pair of Uggs (or Ugg-a-likes, truth be told) that I love. I know, I know – they are winter boots designed for the summer too and that is a little silly, but since when has good fashion been sensible? My mum’s ultimate fashion moments were defined by HUGE Jackie O shades and a stripy Mary Quant mini-dress with a fluffy coat that looks like a Afghan hound draped over her; silly and of the moment, but it did look cool! So what’s the harm in thick fury boots with summer dresses if it looks good? Exactly. And it does…look good I mean, look at Kate Hudson (below) – looks good – right?
So in my opinion – Ugg boots and Ugg-style boots are very cool. Wear them with a summer dress or over skinny jeans for the classic Ugg look, but don’t get them wrong! Don’t, for example, wear them with (exhibit A) your sweats, or worse still, (exhibit B) a swimming costume?
So…I know it is up for debate in many-a fashion mag, but keep out of the argument because I think without a doubt Uggs (and the slightly more affordable Ugg-style boots) have gained ‘all-time-classic’ status and will always be cool. Just like mum’s Jackie Os!

Cheryl Vs Danii 2009
So, you’ve been watching X-factor right? Who hasn’t! I know before we go out partying it is now a strict routine that the girls come over to my place for a few glasses of wine and a full heated debate about who looks the coolest, but let me ask you this, a question that has caused loads of arguments between us girls: Cheryl or Danni?
I asked my at-the-moment boyfriend, the ever-so gorgeous if slightly aloof Jake – but sadly he couldn’t just look at fashion and chose Cheryl based on looks. So I ask you – what do you think? Let’s have a look at the cases for each?
Cheryl Cole…What we LOVE:
Danni: What we LOVE:
So who should we pick to back: Danni or Cheryl? You decide! Feel free to comment and let us know what you think!

Five ways to make your outfit bootiful!
Hello there! Im Kelsie Jacobs and this is my first (of many) posts for My 1st Wish. As a 21 year old fashion student from London, I am of course a huge designer fan. I love to watch the celebrities get it right and get it wrong too! So, anyway, I will be watching very carefully to ensure that you are kept completely up to date with all the trends and warned of any nasty fads to avoid! If you have any questions, photos or suggestions you would like to share with me and My 1st Wish – just send me an email, or find me on Facebook or Twitter!
Where do I begin with this month? Yes, boots! So, me and my best friend Lauren, were having cocktails at The Dirty Martini bar in Covent Garden last week and the conversation got round to winter fashions. We saw a girl wander into the bar wearing the most adorable pair of calf boots, not dissimilar to a pair that I got from My 1st Wish.
So, Lauren admitted to me that she found it really hard to get boots right. This can be tricky – when do you wear heals and when don’t you? How can knee-highs look classy? How do you wear cowboy boots as a casual affair?
This leads me nicely to my 1st blog post!
Five ways to wear boots this winter!
- 1. Go sexy…but not too sexy!
Sexy can be a hard one to pull off. Thigh-high boots are so overwhelmingly sexy that it can be hard to wear them without making a forceful statement, which may not be good! My tip is to match them up with something casual. Kate Hudson (below) does it perfectly. See how she has taken soft leather boots and a soft cotton fabric dress, which also has a roll neck. This works well because she isn’t showing too much off. If you are daring enough to wear boots like this, you have to combine it with something classic and classy and not revealing, or you will end up looking like a page 3 model!
- 2. The ‘all out’ look
This is brilliant for a big night out on the tiles! You will get all the attention you deserve if you go all out on a really sexy girly outfit like this. Team up a pair of knee-high boots with a skirt and make sure you wear something cutesy on top. A little skinny t-shirt like this works best otherwise you risk taking it all a step too far. Knee-highs, like thigh-highs, can look so cool and for both these looks it is vital that you tone down the upper body.
3. The Rock n Roll look
Kate Moss is the ultimate rock chick. Rock star boyfriend – check (double check!); distinct and beautiful versatile look – check; own fashion line – check; party lifestyle in Paris, Milan, New York and London – check! She really has it all and always looks amazing with it! I’m nearly their, although my on-off boyfriend Jake is hardly a rock star – well not yet!
The rock n roll look is a little more dressed down with followers believing that if you try hard not to look like you have tried hard then you will look good! With this in mind team up black boots with skinny jeans or leather trousers for that ultra cool, easy-going rock star look.
4. Cutesy casual boots!
Jamie Presley looks ultra sassy and cool in her casual calf boots. I have a pair really similar and they are practical and comfortable and work so well with jeans and a sassy top like hers. The key is to wear casual clothes – nothing too radical, but then hint at dressy with little heals and longer boots. This is a great looks for shopping or casual cocktails with the girls in the week!
5. Keep it flat
Megan Fox is a fox and she is one of our faves when it comes to fashion at the moment. She always gets it right, and does the skirt and flats thing perfectly. Choose bold boots that are flat and cutesy, as opposed to sexy, but combine this with a sexy skirt or dress! It is almost like the opposite of the not too sexy thigh-high boots look (number 1) with the casual boots and dressed-up clothes instead of the either way. Megan fox of course wears them both well!
Good luck!

So how do you wear a man-bag without looking like a girl? Well it can be tricky. There is a fine line between David Beckham’s superstar footballer look and, well, a girl!
We have three top tips to ensure you don’t make a fashion faux pas!
- Big bags definitely look more girly. Steer clear of bags that look puffy or large (see Pharrell Williams below)
2. Colour is also very important. Steer clear of girly colours (see above!) and try to stick to classic or sporty colours. The Dunlop collection is superb and we highly recommend that. Super stud Ronaldo does it right with his classic brown purse (see below).
3. Wear your bag with confidence. David Beckham gets away with wearing sarongs and man-bags alike and this is not just because he is a hottie. David Beckham is confident and knows he looks good. No matter what you wear, wear it with pride!
Good luck with your man-bags and please let us know how you get on,
My 1st wish
The Welly Crazy Boots
The Wellington boot, also known as rubber-boots, wellies, topboots, gumboots, or rainboots (I’ve heard weirder names too!) used to be something you have to wear when doing dirty, mucky tasks but now anything to do with wellies is part of a fashion statement! Even celebrities such as Jessica Alba love the boot as a casual way to add comfort and colour to an outfit.
In 2009 Wellies became luxurious when Jimmy Choo collaborated with the British brand Hunters to bring the luxurious faux crocodile wellies retailing at around £250 plus a waiting list. I will definitely be avoiding the puddles in these super chic boots.
I’m loving the fact that the selection of wellies My1stWish offer keeps on growing as the classic green rubber boot was not something that I could easily match up with my wardrobe. They now have animal prints, stripes and polka dots as well as wedge ones! Below you can see some of my favorite wellies retailing from £14.99 minus the waiting list. If I do get caught out in the rain at least my wellies are sure to make me smile.
Have you ever thought bought your outfit and included your wellies as part of the overall look? Let us know of your thoughts.

The man bag
The 2000s have already seen some exciting hot trends and interesting new fashions. Metro-sexuality has been in fashion since the late 90s, and the term was coined by an article in The Independent which was written in 1994 by Mark Simpson. He described fashionable men who care about looking after their skin and worry about fashion. These men are described as the ultimate consumers and love a good man-bag.
It was Beckham who first made a name for the man-bag mid way through this decade and he has been very dedicated to it ever since. Jude Law has followed his footsteps, as have a whole host of household fashion names.
Since then the man-bag has become a hit with the likes of Coldplay and Ricky Gervais, as well as designers such as Louis Vuitton, Prada and Burberry, designing and making man-bags.
Saddle up for riding boots
I remember last year when my friends were on the chase for the perfect riding boots. Hours later the common complaint was that they were either too small at the calf or too big, in a classic pair with stylish detail. Since this trend is still a craze with celebs are bring them straight from the catwalk to the streets. Below are some tips to help you find your perfect pair.
For women with slender calves, it’s sometimes hard to find the best boots without them looking loose fitting. To help avoid the problem it’s best to go for mid-calf boots with top adjustable buckles or boots with zips as they tend to be more shaped around the legs.
For women with large calves, it’s best to go for boots with stretch design or loose fit around the calf’s to avoid the overspill look at the top when the boots are too tight. You can even go for knee high boots to draw the focus away from the calf area.
If you want a pair of riding boots that will draw attention and revamp the plainest outfit, look for detail. Riding boots come with strong detail such as buckles in silver and gold design. Also go for patent black boots to add a classic feel, just make sure you keep them clean unless you really want to get the ‘been horse riding’ look!
So what boots are you wearing this Winter? Let me know of your thoughts and ideas and I will publish the best responses!
